The Coastline Band is compromised of six of the most talented and
versatile young musicians in the area. All six members have studied music in
high school and college or practiced their craft at the professional level.
They have performed in such groups as the East Carolina Symphony Orchestra,
Pembroke
State
University
’s
Jazz Band and Jazz Choir, and many Beach, Top 40, Rock & Roll, and Variety
Bands. Such diverse backgrounds form a basis for versatility, yet allows the
members to mesh for a tight performance. This playing style has earned them a
following in every city they perform. With every show, the band makes new fans,
friends, and satisfied customers.
The Coastline Band is adaptable and easy to work with. True to the
old adage “The show must go on”, the band moved a scheduled outdoor fund raiser
for the Children’s Miracle Network INSIDE a local Wal-Mart on a rainy day! The
band’s ability to adapt to unusual situations shone through in a performance
with legendary balladeer, Percy Sledge, who commented, “This is the best show
I’ve played with a band I never rehearsed with.” As anyone who has worked with
them will tell you, one can always expect high levels of talent, energy, and
professionalism from The Coastline Band.
RICKY CAMPBELL - Drums, Background Vocals
Ricky is the rhythmic backbone of the band. He does more than just keep the
beat. Ricky provides the kind of drive that makes it seem easy for the band to
keep the energy level high. He can be as entertaining to watch behind the drum
set as a lead singer on the front line. This makes Ricky a valuable member of
the band.
JAMES JORGENSON - Bass, Valve Trombone, Saxophone, Keyboard, Vocals
James is most important to the band as a pivot man. His versatility
makes him a great asset. On horns he never misses. His voice is a big part of
the sweet vocal blend of the band and his bass playing is as solid as it gets.
James graduated from
Pembroke
State
University
with a degree in Music
Education and teaches strings in the Robeson County Schools.
CHRIS FORE - Trumpet, Guitar, Background Vocals
Chris’ sound on trumpet sparkles just as his stage presence does. Although he
originally studied classical music, he learned the art of living good show from
having been a member of The Fabulous Boardwalk Band. Chris knows what it takes
to perform for hundreds of people every night and gives 110% from start to
finish.
STEVE KROEKEL - Keyboard, Trombone, Background Vocals
Steve’s keyboard prowess must be heard to be believed. He knows just
what chords to use to fill up the sound of the band. He doesn’t have to be a
flashy player to be effective, but when it’s time for Steve to cut loose...step
back! On trombone, Steve is rock solid. He can take solos generally reserved
for sax or guitar and bring them to life on trombone. Steve has the uncanny
ability to project his natural bass voice into the high falsetto range
necessary to complete the band vocal sound. Steve is also a trained musician.
JIM QUICK - Keyboard, Vocals
Jim is a soul man. His voice is reminiscent of such great singers as Otis
Redding and Wilson Pickett. He can capture the stylistic nuances that are so
important in the band’s music. He is also considered to have expert knowledge
of beach music and oldies. Jim was selected as Beach Music Monthly’s Radio DJ
of the Month in their premier issue. It is difficult to decide whether these
things make Jim such an asset or if it is his unique ability to establish a
great rapport with any crowd.
VINCE E. MCDOUGALD - Bass, Keyboard, Saxophone, Guitar, Vocals
Vince is every mother’s worst nightmare because his lead vocals and sax
solos are guaranteed to steal hearts. On bass, Vince expands the instrument
from the foundation of the band’s sound to the drive that sets The Coastline Band apart from everyone else. Yet, Vince’s role in the band’s sometimes
offbeat arrangements may be his most valuable contribution to the group. Vince
is an innovator, a natural talent, and a professional performer. |
